CVE-2019-3862

CVSS v3.1

9.1

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions libssh2 versions prior to 1.8.1
Description An out of bounds read flaw was discovered in the way SSH MSG CHANNEL REQUEST packets with an exit status message and no payload are parsed. A remote attacker who compromises a SSH server may be able to cause a Denial of Service or read data in the client memory. The vulnerability is related to the parsing of SSH MSG CHANNEL REQUEST packets and can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain unauthorized access to protected information or cause a service disruption by connecting to a compromised SSH server.
Recommendations For libssh2 versions prior to 1.8.1, update to version 1.8.1 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to SSH servers until the update can be applied.
