CVE-2018-12265

CVSS v2.0

10

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Exiv2 version 0.26
Description The issue is caused by an integer overflow in the LoaderExifJpeg class, leading to an out-of-bounds read. This can potentially allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code. The out-of-bounds read occurs in the Exiv2::MemIo::read function.
Recommendations For Exiv2 version 0.26, consider disabling the LoaderExifJpeg class in preview.cpp as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the Exiv2::MemIo::read function in basicio.cpp to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
