CVE-2018-2622

CVSS v2.0

6.8

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Oracle MySQL versions 5.5.58 and prior Oracle MySQL versions 5.6.38 and prior Oracle MySQL versions 5.7.20 and prior
Description The issue is related to inadequate access control in the MySQL Server component, specifically in the Server:DDL subcomponent. It allows a low-privileged attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise the MySQL Server. Successful attacks can result in the unauthorized ability to cause a hang or frequently repeatable crash (complete DOS) of the MySQL Server.
Recommendations For Oracle MySQL versions 5.5.58 and prior, update to a version later than 5.5.58 to resolve the issue. For Oracle MySQL versions 5.6.38 and prior, update to a version later than 5.6.38 to resolve the issue. For Oracle MySQL versions 5.7.20 and prior, update to a version later than 5.7.20 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting network access to the MySQL Server to minimize the risk of exploitation.
