CVE-2018-20783

CVSS v2.0

7.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: PHP versions prior to 5.6.39 PHP versions 7.0.x prior to 7.0.33 PHP versions 7.1.x prior to 7.1.25 PHP versions 7.2.x prior to 7.2.13
Description: A buffer over-read issue in PHAR reading functions may allow an attacker to read allocated or unallocated memory past the actual data when trying to parse a .phar file. This issue is related to the phar parse pharfile function in ext/phar/phar.c. The vulnerability can be exploited by a remote attacker to gain unauthorized access to protected information.
Recommendations: For PHP versions prior to 5.6.39, update to version 5.6.39 or later. For PHP versions 7.0.x prior to 7.0.33, update to version 7.0.33 or later. For PHP versions 7.1.x prior to 7.1.25, update to version 7.1.25 or later. For PHP versions 7.2.x prior to 7.2.13, update to version 7.2.13 or later. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to PHAR files until a patch is applied.
