CVE-2018-6554

CVSS v3.1

5.5

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 4.17
Description The issue is related to a memory leak in the irda bind function, which can be exploited by local users to cause a denial of service by consuming memory through repeatedly binding an AF IRDA socket. This is due to the lack of resource release after its valid usage period has expired.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 4.17, update to version 4.17 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the irda bind function to minimize the risk of exploitation.
