CVE-2018-20662

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Poppler version 0.72.0
Description The issue is related to the PDFDoc::setup function in the PDFDoc.cc component of the Poppler library, which is used for displaying PDF files. It allows attackers to cause a denial-of-service, resulting in an application crash due to a wrong return value from PDFDoc::setup. This can be achieved by crafting a PDF file that mishandles an xref data structure during extractPDFSubtype processing. The vulnerability can be exploited by a remote attacker using a specially created PDF file.
Recommendations For Poppler version 0.72.0, consider updating to a newer version that contains a fix for this issue, as the current version allows for a denial-of-service attack through a crafted PDF file. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
