CVE-2018-19758

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions libsndfile version 1.0.28
Description The issue is related to a heap-based buffer over-read in the wav write header function of the libsndfile library. This can cause a denial of service. The vulnerability is associated with reading beyond the valid boundaries of a data buffer, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to disrupt service.
Recommendations For libsndfile version 1.0.28, consider disabling the wav write header function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the wav.c module to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
