CVE-2018-25020

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 4.17
Description The issue is related to the BPF subsystem in the Linux kernel, which mishandles situations with a long jump over an instruction sequence where inner instructions require substantial expansions into multiple BPF instructions, leading to an overflow. This affects kernel/bpf/core.c and net/core/filter.c. The vulnerability may allow an attacker to impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected information due to a buffer overflow on the stack.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 4.17, update to version 4.17 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of the BPF subsystem until a patch is available.
