CVE-2012-6668
CVSS v2.0
4.3
Medium
| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:N/I:P/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
vBShout module versions prior to 6.0.6
Description
The issue concerns multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in the Shout Reports feature of the vBShout module. These vulnerabilities allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML. Specifically, the
reportreason parameter in the "actions/doreport.php" endpoint and the modnotes parameter in the "actions/updatereport.php" endpoint are vulnerable.Recommendations
For versions prior to 6.0.6, update to version 6.0.6 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
actions/doreport.php and actions/updatereport.php endpoints to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the reportreason and modnotes parameters in these endpoints until the issue is resolved.Fix
