CVE-2016-10615

CVSS v2.0

9.3

High

VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions curses (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue concerns the insecure download of binary resources over HTTP, making it susceptible to man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks. This could potentially lead to remote code execution (RCE) if an attacker intercepts and replaces the requested binary with a malicious one, particularly in scenarios where the attacker has a privileged network position.
Recommendations Avoid using the curses package if possible, and consider using a different package instead. If the package must be used, reduce the risk of exploitation by avoiding installation while connected to a public network. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
