| Vector | AV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
resourcehacker versions (affected versions not specified)
Description
The issue allows for potential remote code execution (RCE) due to the insecure download of binary resources over HTTP, making it susceptible to man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks. If an attacker is positioned between the user and the remote server or has a privileged network position, they can intercept the response and replace the executable with a malicious one, resulting in code execution on the system running the affected software.
Recommendations
To mitigate the issue, avoid using the resourcehacker package until a patch is available.
Alternatively, reduce the risk of exploitation by not installing the package while connected to a public network, as this limits the potential attackers to those with compromised network access or privileged ISP access.
Fix
Missing Encryption of Sensitive Data
