CVE-2016-9488

CVSS v3.1

9.8

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions ManageEngine Applications Manager versions 12 and 13 before build 13200
Description The issue allows an unauthenticated attacker to perform remote SQL injection. This can be achieved by accessing the "MenuHandlerServlet" API endpoint, specifically the URL /servlet/MenuHandlerServlet, which is vulnerable to SQL injection. The attacker could extract users' password hashes, which are MD5 hashes without salt. Depending on the database type and its configuration, the attacker could also execute operating system commands using SQL queries.
Recommendations For ManageEngine Applications Manager versions 12 and 13 before build 13200, update to build 13200 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the /servlet/MenuHandlerServlet endpoint to minimize the risk of exploitation.
