CVSS v2.0

4.4

Medium

VectorAV:L/AC:M/Au:N/C:P/I:P/A:P
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Android for MSM (affected versions not specified) Firefox OS for MSM (affected versions not specified) QRD Android (affected versions not specified)
Description A race condition in a firmware loading routine could potentially lead to a buffer overflow if multiple user space threads try to update the WLAN firmware file through sysfs. This issue affects Android releases from CAF using the Linux kernel.
Recommendations For Android for MSM, consider restricting access to the sysfs interface to minimize the risk of exploitation. For Firefox OS for MSM, avoid using multiple user space threads to update the WLAN firmware file until the issue is resolved. For QRD Android, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the WLAN firmware update functionality through sysfs until a patch is available. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
