CVE-2017-12378

CVSS v3.1

9.8

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: ClamAV AntiVirus software versions 0.99.2 and prior
Description: The issue is caused by improper input validation checking mechanisms of .tar files sent to an affected device. A successful exploit could cause a checksum buffer over-read condition when ClamAV scans the malicious .tar file, potentially allowing an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on the affected device.
Recommendations: For ClamAV AntiVirus software versions 0.99.2 and prior, update to a version later than 0.99.2 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the scanning of .tar files until a patch is available.
