High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Android versions 8.0, 8.1
Description:
The issue occurs in the Bitmap.ccp file where if
Bitmap.nativeCreate fails, it does not throw an out of memory exception, leading to a java.io.IOException later on. This could result in a remote denial of service of a critical system process without requiring additional execution privileges. User interaction is not necessary for exploitation.Recommendations:
For Android versions 8.0 and 8.1, consider applying configuration changes to handle the
java.io.IOException exception properly to minimize the risk of exploitation.
At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Improper Handling of Exceptional Conditions
