CVE-2017-16342

CVSS v3.1

9.9

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions: Insteon Hub version 1012
Description: The issue allows an attacker to send an authenticated HTTP request to trigger a buffer overflow. Specifically, the value for the s vol dim delta key is copied using strcpy to a buffer at address 0xa0000514, which is 4 bytes large. Sending a value longer than 4 bytes will cause a buffer overflow.
Recommendations: For Insteon Hub version 1012, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the s vol dim delta key to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
