Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Samsung Notes versions prior to 2.0.02.31
Description:
This issue allows local attackers to escalate privileges on vulnerable installations. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system. The flaw exists within the handling of ZIP files, specifically due to the lack of proper validation of a user-supplied path prior to using it in file operations. This allows an attacker to escalate privileges to resources normally protected from the application.
Recommendations:
For versions prior to 2.0.02.31, update to version 2.0.02.31 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the handling of ZIP files until a patch is applied. Avoid using user-supplied paths in file operations to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Fix
