| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions:
Ubiquiti EdgeOS version 1.9.1
Description:
The issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code with admin credentials because the
/opt/vyatta/share/vyatta-cfg/templates/system/static-host-mapping/host-name/node.def template does not sanitize the alias or ips parameter for shell metacharacters. This can be exploited through API endpoints related to system static host mapping.Recommendations:
For Ubiquiti EdgeOS version 1.9.1, consider disabling the
alias and ips parameters in the /opt/vyatta/share/vyatta-cfg/templates/system/static-host-mapping/host-name/node.def template until a patch is available. Restrict access to the system static host mapping feature to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
