CVSS v3.1

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions ES File Explorer File Manager application version 4.2.0.1.3
Description The master-password feature in the ES File Explorer File Manager application can be bypassed, allowing remote FTP access to the entirety of local storage. This can be achieved via a com.estrongs.android.pop.ftp.ESFtpShortcut intent. As a result, an attacker on the local network could access files on the device without authentication.
Recommendations For version 4.2.0.1.3, consider disabling the FTP server functionality to prevent unauthorized access until a patch is available. Restrict access to the local storage to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid using the ES File Explorer File Manager application for sensitive data storage until the issue is resolved. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
