CVE-2019-13331

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Foxit Reader version 9.5.0.20723
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the parsing of JPG files due to the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, resulting in a read past the end of an allocated buffer. An attacker can leverage this to execute code in the context of the current process.
Recommendations For Foxit Reader version 9.5.0.20723, as a temporary workaround, consider disabling the JPG file parsing functionality until a patch is available. Restrict access to untrusted JPG files to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
