CVSS v2.0

9.0

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:S/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Yealink phones versions prior to 2019-08-04
Description The issue is related to OpenVPN file upload in Yealink phones. It executes tar as root to extract files but does not validate the extraction directory. An attacker can create a tar file with ../../../../ to replace almost any file on the phone, leading to password replacement and arbitrary code execution as root.
Recommendations For Yealink phones versions prior to 2019-08-04, consider restricting access to the OpenVPN file upload feature until a fix is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the OpenVPN file upload feature to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
