CVSS v3.1

9.8

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions rdesktop versions up to and including v1.8.3
Description The issue is related to an Integer Overflow in the process bitmap updates() function, leading to an Out-Of-Bounds Write and resulting in memory corruption. This could potentially allow for remote code execution. The vulnerability is associated with the implementation of the process bitmap updates function in the RDP client.
Recommendations For rdesktop versions up to and including v1.8.3, consider disabling the process bitmap updates() function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the RDP client to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
