CVE-2019-5778

CVSS v3.1

6.5

Medium

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Google Chrome versions prior to 72.0.3626.81
Description The issue is related to incorrect input neutralization during web page generation, allowing a remote attacker to bypass permission checks for privileged pages using a specially crafted extension. This can occur when a user is convinced to install a malicious extension. The vulnerability exploits a missing case for handling special schemes in permission request checks in Google Chrome extensions.
Recommendations For versions prior to 72.0.3626.81, update to version 72.0.3626.81 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the installation of extensions to trusted sources and avoiding the use of unverified extensions.
