Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
NETGEAR N300 (WNR2000v5) version V1.0.0.70
Description
A denial-of-service issue exists due to a null pointer dereference in the Host Access Point Daemon (hostapd) when a SOAP request is sent in an invalid sequence to the "WFAWLANConfig:1#PutMessage" service, causing the hostapd service to crash. An unauthenticated attacker can trigger this issue by sending a specially-crafted SOAP request.
Recommendations
For NETGEAR N300 (WNR2000v5) version V1.0.0.70, as a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the "WFAWLANConfig:1#PutMessage" service until a patch is available. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
