CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Kakadu Software SDK version 7.10.2
Description A heap underflow vulnerability exists in the derive taps and gains function in kdu v7ar.dll. This issue can be triggered by a specially crafted jp2 file, causing a heap overflow that may result in remote code execution. An attacker could exploit this by providing a malformed file to the victim.
Recommendations For version 7.10.2, consider avoiding the use of the derive taps and gains function in kdu v7ar.dll until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict the handling of jp2 files to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
