| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
FortiOS versions prior to 6.0.5
Description
The issue is related to the lack of root file system integrity checking in Fortinet FortiOS VM application images. This may allow an attacker to implant malicious programs into the installing image by reassembling it through specific methods. An attacker with read/write access to the VM image, before it is booted up, may inject malicious implants into the image.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 6.0.5, update to version 6.0.5 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the VM image to prevent malicious modifications until a patch is applied.
Fix
Insufficient Verification of Data Authenticity
