CVSS v3.1

8.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Malwarebytes Antimalware version 3.6.1.2711
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious web page. The problem lies in the product's handling of URIs within certain schemes, failing to warn the user of dangerous navigation. Special characters in the URI are not sanitized, potentially leading to the execution of arbitrary commands. An attacker can leverage this to execute code in the context of the current user at medium integrity.
Recommendations For Malwarebytes Antimalware version 3.6.1.2711, consider restricting the handling of URIs within certain schemes to minimize the risk of exploitation until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the product to navigate to untrusted web pages. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
