Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Foxit PhantomPDF version 9.4.1.16828
Description
This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the conversion of HTML files to PDF, resulting from the lack of validating the existence of an object prior to performing operations on it. An attacker can leverage this to execute code in the context of the current process.
Recommendations
For Foxit PhantomPDF version 9.4.1.16828, consider avoiding the conversion of HTML files to PDF until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, restrict access to the HTML to PDF conversion feature to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
