CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Foxit PhantomPDF version 9.4.1.16828
Description This issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations. User interaction is required, where the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file. The flaw exists within the conversion of HTML files to PDF, resulting from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data. This can lead to a read past the end of an allocated object, allowing an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process.
Recommendations For Foxit PhantomPDF version 9.4.1.16828, update to a version that addresses the issue with proper validation of user-supplied data in the HTML to PDF conversion process. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the conversion of HTML files to PDF to minimize the risk of exploitation. Avoid opening malicious files or visiting untrusted websites to reduce the risk of attack.
