CVE-2018-20176

CVSS v3.1

7.5

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions rdesktop versions up to and including v1.8.3
Description The issue is related to a buffer overflow read in the secure.c file of the rdesktop client, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a denial of service. This can result in a segfault, leading to service disruption.
Recommendations For rdesktop versions up to and including v1.8.3, consider updating to a version later than v1.8.3 to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, restrict access to the secure.c file to minimize the risk of exploitation.
