CVE-2019-8985

CVSS v3.1

9.8

Critical

VectorAV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Netis WF2411 version 2.1.36123 Netis WF2xxx devices versions WF2411 through WF2880
Description The issue is a stack-based buffer overflow that does not require authentication, potentially causing denial of service or remote code execution. This can be triggered by a GET request with a long HTTP "Authorization: Basic" header, which is mishandled by the user auth->user ok function in the /bin/boa endpoint.
Recommendations For Netis WF2411 version 2.1.36123, consider restricting access to the /bin/boa endpoint until a patch is available. For Netis WF2xxx devices versions WF2411 through WF2880, avoid using long HTTP "Authorization: Basic" headers in GET requests to prevent potential exploitation. As a temporary workaround, consider disabling the user auth->user ok function in the /bin/boa endpoint to minimize the risk of exploitation.
