Description The issue is related to a use-after-free in the Linux kernel's sockfs setattr, caused by the af alg release function neglecting to set a NULL value for a certain structure member. This can be exploited to allow an unprivileged local user to escalate their privileges on the system.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 4.20.11, update to version 4.20.11 or later to resolve the issue. For PAN-OS versions prior to 7.1.24, update to version 7.1.24 or later. For PAN-OS versions prior to 8.0.18, update to version 8.0.18 or later. For PAN-OS versions prior to 8.1.9, update to version 8.1.9 or later. For PAN-OS versions prior to 9.0.3, update to version 9.0.3 or later.
