Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Microsoft Windows (affected versions not specified)
Description
A remote code execution issue exists in Microsoft Windows, related to the processing of .LNK files. If a malicious .LNK file is processed, an attacker could execute arbitrary code with the same user rights as the local user. The attacker can present a removable drive or remote share containing a malicious .LNK file and associated binary to the user. When the user opens this drive or remote share in Windows Explorer or another application that parses .LNK files, the malicious binary will execute the attacker's chosen code on the target system.
