Description
The issue is related to a buffer overflow in memory, allowing a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code by sending a specially crafted ARF or WRF file. The vulnerabilities exist due to improper validation of Advanced Recording Format (ARF) and Webex Recording Format (WRF) files. An attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by sending a malicious ARF or WRF file through a link or email attachment and persuading the user to open the file with the affected software.
Recommendations
For Cisco Webex Network Recording Player, update to a version that properly validates ARF and WRF files to prevent arbitrary code execution.
For Cisco Webex Player, update to a version that properly validates ARF and WRF files to prevent arbitrary code execution.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of ARF and WRF files in the affected software until a patch is available.
Avoid opening suspicious ARF or WRF files with the affected software to minimize the risk of exploitation.
