VectorAV:N/AC:M/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Cisco Webex Network Recording Player for Microsoft Windows (affected versions not specified) Cisco Webex Player for Microsoft Windows (affected versions not specified)
Description The issue is related to improper validation of Advanced Recording Format (ARF) and Webex Recording Format (WRF) files, which could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on an affected system. This can be achieved by sending a malicious ARF or WRF file to a user through a link or email attachment and persuading them to open it with the affected software. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the targeted user. The vulnerability is also described as a buffer overflow issue in memory, which can be exploited by sending a specially crafted ARF or WRF file.
Recommendations For Cisco Webex Network Recording Player for Microsoft Windows, update the software to a version that properly validates ARF and WRF files to prevent arbitrary code execution. For Cisco Webex Player for Microsoft Windows, consider disabling the handling of ARF and WRF files until a patch is available to mitigate the risk of exploitation. As a temporary workaround, avoid opening ARF and WRF files from untrusted sources with the affected software until the issue is resolved.
