CVE-2019-1581
CVSS v2.0
10
Critical
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
PAN-OS versions prior to 7.1.24-h1
PAN-OS versions prior to 8.0.19-h1
PAN-OS versions prior to 8.1.9-h4
PAN-OS versions prior to 9.0.3-h3
Description
The issue exists due to insufficient input validation in the PAN-OS SSH device management interface, allowing a remote, unauthenticated user to execute arbitrary code by sending a specially crafted message. This can lead to unauthenticated remote users gaining root access to PAN-OS.
Recommendations
For PAN-OS versions prior to 7.1.24-h1, update to version 7.1.24-h1 or later.
For PAN-OS versions prior to 8.0.19-h1, update to version 8.0.19-h1 or later.
For PAN-OS versions prior to 8.1.9-h4, update to version 8.1.9-h4 or later.
For PAN-OS versions prior to 9.0.3-h3, update to version 9.0.3-h3 or later.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the SSH device management interface until a patch is available.
