The issue exists due to insufficient input validation in the command-line interface of the affected software, allowing an authenticated, local attacker to execute commands on the underlying operating system with root privileges. Recommendations
For Cisco FX-OS, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue.
For Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) Software, update to a version that includes the fix for this issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the CLI to minimize the risk of exploitation.
Avoid using crafted arguments in CLI commands until the issue is resolved.
