Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
VideoLAN VLC media player version 3.0.7.1
Description
A divide-by-zero error exists in the
SeekIndex() function, which can be triggered via a crafted WMV file, potentially allowing a remote attacker to affect data integrity, gain unauthorized access to protected information, and cause a denial of service. The issue is related to the SeekIndex() function in the demux/asf/asf.c component.Recommendations
For version 3.0.7.1, consider disabling the
SeekIndex() function as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to crafted WMV files to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Divide By Zero
