CVE-2019-11499

CVSS v2.0

7.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Dovecot versions 2.3.3 through 2.3.5.2
Description The issue is related to the IMAP Server in Dovecot, where the submission-login component crashes if AUTH PLAIN is attempted over a TLS secured channel with an unacceptable authentication message. This vulnerability is associated with a null pointer dereference in the IMAP protocol implementation, which can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a denial of service using a specially crafted authentication message.
Recommendations For Dovecot versions 2.3.3 through 2.3.5.2, consider disabling the submission-login component or restricting access to the IMAP server until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the AUTH PLAIN method over a TLS secured channel to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
