CVSS v2.0
10
Critical
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
libxslt versions 1.1.33 and earlier
Description
The issue is related to a protection mechanism bypass in libxslt. It allows a remote attacker to bypass security mechanisms and potentially conduct an XXE attack. The problem arises because the
xsltCheckRead and xsltCheckWrite functions permit access even when they receive a -1 error code. Specifically, xsltCheckRead can return -1 for a crafted URL that is not actually invalid, and this URL can be subsequently loaded.Recommendations
For libxslt versions 1.1.33 and earlier, consider disabling the
xsltCheckRead and xsltCheckWrite functions as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to potentially vulnerable URLs to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
