Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Linux kernel versions prior to 5.3.11
Description
The issue is related to a memory leak in the
mwifiex pcie alloc cmdrsp buf() function, which can lead to uncontrolled resource consumption. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a denial of service, specifically by consuming memory. The exploitation is possible by triggering mwifiex map pci memory() failures.Recommendations
For Linux kernel versions prior to 5.3.11, update to version 5.3.11 or later to resolve the issue.
As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
mwifiex pcie alloc cmdrsp buf() function to minimize the risk of exploitation.Fix
