Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
NVIDIA Windows GPU Display Driver (all versions)
Description
The issue is related to a vulnerability in DirectX drivers, where a specially crafted shader can cause an out of bounds access to a shader local temporary array. This may lead to denial of service or code execution. The vulnerability is also described as a buffer overflow issue, where data can be written beyond the buffer boundaries, potentially allowing an attacker to cause a denial of service or execute arbitrary code using a specially crafted shader.
Recommendations
For all versions, consider disabling the use of specially crafted shaders as a temporary workaround until a patch is available. Restrict access to the DirectX drivers to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.
