CVE-2019-5427
CVSS v2.0
7.8
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
c3p0 versions prior to 0.9.5.4
Description
The issue is related to errors in processing XML entities in the ConfigXmlUtils function of the c3p0 library for JDBC drivers. This can be exploited by a remote attacker to cause a denial of service, potentially through a "billion laughs" attack when loading XML configuration due to missing protections against recursive entity expansion.
Recommendations
For versions prior to 0.9.5.4, update to version 0.9.5.4 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting the use of XML configuration loading to minimize the risk of exploitation.
