CVE-2019-17347

CVSS v3.1

7.8

High

VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Xen versions prior to 4.12
Description The issue allows x86 PV guest OS users to cause a denial of service or gain privileges because a guest can manipulate its virtualised %cr4 in a way that is incompatible with Linux. This is related to an insufficient input validation mechanism in the Xen hypervisor, which can be exploited to gain unauthorized access to confidential data, cause a denial of service, and impact data integrity.
Recommendations For Xen versions prior to 4.12, update to a version 4.12 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the virtualised %cr4 register to minimize the risk of exploitation.
