VectorAV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions Linux kernel versions prior to 5.3.11
Description The issue is related to the mlx5 fw fatal reporter dump() function in the Linux kernel, which is associated with an uncontrolled resource consumption, also known as a resource exhaustion issue. Exploitation of this issue may allow an attacker to cause a denial of service by triggering mlx5 crdump collect() failures, resulting in memory consumption.
Recommendations For Linux kernel versions prior to 5.3.11, update to version 5.3.11 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the mlx5 fw fatal reporter dump() function to minimize the risk of exploitation.
