Description
The issue is related to a null pointer dereference in the Local Download Sharing Service (LDSS) dissector of the Wireshark network traffic analyzer. Exploitation of this issue could allow a remote attacker to cause a denial of service. The problem was caused by improper handling of file digests.
Recommendations
For Wireshark versions 2.4.0 through 2.4.13, update to a version where the LDSS dissector properly handles file digests.
For Wireshark versions 2.6.0 through 2.6.7, update to a version where the LDSS dissector properly handles file digests.
For Wireshark version 3.0.0, update to a version where the LDSS dissector properly handles file digests.
