CVE-2018-14470

CVSS v2.0

7.8

High

VectorAV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions tcpdump versions prior to 4.9.3
Description The issue is related to a buffer over-read in the Babel parser of tcpdump, specifically in the babel print v2() function in print-babel.c. This can lead to a denial of service. The problem is also associated with a heap-based buffer over-read related to aoe print in print-aoe.c and lookup emem in addrtoname.c.
Recommendations For versions prior to 4.9.3, update to version 4.9.3 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the babel print v2() function and the aoe print and lookup emem functions in print-aoe.c and addrtoname.c, respectively, until a patch is applied.
