CVE-2019-15166
CVSS v2.0
7.8
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
tcpdump versions prior to 4.9.3
Description
The issue is related to a lack of certain bounds checks in the
lmp print data link subobjs() function in print-lmp.c of the tcpdump utility. This can lead to a buffer over-read, potentially allowing a remote attacker to cause a denial of service. Additionally, there is a heap-based buffer over-read related to aoe print in print-aoe.c and lookup emem in addrtoname.c.Recommendations
For versions prior to 4.9.3, update to version 4.9.3 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the
lmp print data link subobjs() function until a patch is available. Avoid using the affected functions aoe print and lookup emem in the respective files print-aoe.c and addrtoname.c until the issue is resolved.Fix
Buffer Overflow
