CVE-2019-25032
CVSS v2.0
10
Critical
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:C/I:C/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
Unbound versions prior to 1.9.5
Description
The issue is related to an integer overflow in the regional allocator via the regional alloc function in the util/regional.c component of the Unbound DNS server. This could potentially allow a remote attacker to access confidential data, compromise its integrity, and cause a denial of service. However, the vendor disputes that this is a vulnerability, stating that although the code may be vulnerable, a running Unbound installation cannot be remotely or locally exploited.
Recommendations
For Unbound versions prior to 1.9.5, update to version 1.9.5 or later to resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, consider restricting access to the regional allocator to minimize the risk of exploitation.
