7.8
High
| Vector | AV:N/AC:L/Au:N/C:N/I:N/A:C |
Name of the Vulnerable Software and Affected Versions
ezXML versions 0.8.3 through 0.8.6
Description
The issue is related to the
ezxml decode function in the ezXML library, which performs incorrect memory handling while parsing crafted XML files. This leads to a heap-based buffer over-read in the "normalize line endings" feature. The vulnerability can be exploited by a remote attacker using a specially crafted XML file, potentially causing a denial of service.Recommendations
For ezXML versions 0.8.3 through 0.8.6, consider disabling the
ezxml decode function or restricting its use until a patch is available. As a temporary workaround, avoid using the "normalize line endings" feature in the ezxml decode function to minimize the risk of exploitation. At the moment, there is no information about a newer version that contains a fix for this vulnerability.Exploit
